What Is Banner Stiffening Tape Used For?
Banner stiffening tape reinforces the edges of printed banners before eyelets are fitted. A traditional banner hem is usually created by folding the material back on itself, producing a double-thickness edge. However, folding is not always possible or suitable, particularly where the available material, printed design or finishing method does not allow it.
Applying banner stiffening tape to the reverse of the banner provides a practical alternative. It creates a reinforced area through which eyelets can be punched and fitted, helping to produce a stronger fixing point while allowing the banner edge to remain flat. This makes it particularly useful for wide-format banner production, sign making, exhibition graphics and other professionally finished printed displays.
How to Apply Banner Hemming and Stiffening Tape
For the best adhesion, the banner surface should be clean, dry and free from dust or contamination. Position the tape carefully along the reverse edge of the banner and apply firm, even pressure across its full length. Once securely bonded, the eyelet holes can be punched through both the banner material and reinforcing tape.
